I'm in total hell. It has been nearly two weeks since I quit taking remeron (cold turkey), and I really had no problems prior to the last few days except for total insomnia, which is why I started taking it in the first place so I don't necessarily think that's rebound. Anyway, for the last few days I have had uncontrollable eye darting, can't hardly close my eyes due to the muscle fatigue of them moving around. My doctor prescribed trazedone yesterday-I took it for the first time last night (100 mg) and had no sleep affects whatsoever. I added 1/2 ambien and maybe got 2 hours of sleep. I'm a wreck and can't help but think this is withdrawal. Any ideas? My doctor wants me to take 100 mg trazedone and 10 mg of ambien tonight.

Sounds like withdrawal to me. When I previously quit remeron I had the worst around the same time fram give or take a few days. I lowered my dose to 3.75 about 7 days ago and feel like hell today. Almost no sleep last night. Head is kind of spinning today too. I hate this drug.
Have you tried Lunesta? I am thinking of asking my doctor for it if I don't get any sleep tonight. I am almost usless today.

I am on lunesta now. I'm really happy with it, didn't have to take that sliver of remeron after all. My guess is I had a severe reaction to the trazodone. My skull felt like it was being crushed and I honestly couldn't go on if that was going to be how withdrawal went!
The problem with lunesta for me, is that I wake up after exactly 4 hrs and have to take another. So that's 6 mg and the dosage is for 3 mg. Haven't bothered telling my doctor yet. But the sleep I get from it is more superior to the anvil dropping on the head by ambien. My eye darting has calmed down as well.
Hope you get some rest too. After only two nights of sleep (fractured, but still) on lunesta I feel better.

> I think this is your problem jenico... maybe quitting cold turkey was not the best idea.. I dont really want to tell u to take the remeron again.. but just try to ride it out... I think most of us are tapering.. very slowly.. i know its frustrating but slow and steady does win the race.. My acupuncturist told me right from the beginning to wean VERY VERY slowly... unlike most docs.. out there tell people to wean on a much faster rate.. thats how you get into trouble.. Have you thought of acupuncture for insomnia ??? worked for me! your doc will just give you more sleep meds, etc.. and that will only TEMP help not FIX the prob...
Good luck
try to hang in!!!
dont think about not sleeping .. just do...and the body will sleep ... its a survival mechanism..MUsky
