Withdrawal symptom's back!? But of what ?

Posted by MARTY on April 25, 2006, at 22:49:57

HI

Thanks to everyone for your help and support. I could have quit Parnate since the first day if it wasn't for your help.

Since 2hAM today (Tuesday) I started to feel withdrawal symptoms, the same that I had with Nardil and that have vanished when I took my first dose of Parnate (10mg x 3 the first 2 days) at Nardil withdrawal Day 6.

Hypothesis:

A) My actual dose of 5mg isn't big enough to stop the Nardil withdrawal symptoms, so it's back (day 15).

B) To take 5mg I got to split a 10mg and as a consequence the major part of the Parnate doesn't go far enough to be absorb/metabolized.

C) Else.. but what ?

In case someone ask me, there is no doubt about the withdrawal symptoms coming back; one is very hard to "Imagine" .. Brain Zapping, for those you know what it is. I also feel very negative and depressed.

Thank AGAIN. I wish I could stop bothering all of you with the same thing (Starting Parnate) over and over.. hopefully with your help that day will come :)

Marty
PS: If you didn't followed my misadventure and are asking yourself WHY 5 mg ?! it's because my BP is very sensible to parnate and so I let my system time to get used to the drug.. for one week.

I think it's pretty clear now that the Nardil is still in your system and is wreaking havic with the Parnate introduction perhaps causeing the hypertensive spikes.

You are not going to want to hear this, but i think waiting a good week to get all the Nardil out of your body is the best answer. I know it's going to be hard, but then you can give Parnate a fair chance. My pdoc made me wait 5 weeks after being off Prozac before starting Parnate, and it was a very difficult five weeks ( was in bed most of the time-very depressed) but when i did start Parnate, as you know, i had no problems. Better safe than sorry my friend. I say no more dangerous risks...the next time you may not be as "Lucky". Let me know what you think.

Hi everyone --

I decided to stay with my regime, but to increase it back to 10mg to see if it would blind again my Nardil withdrawal and at the same time, see if my BP would go as high as the other 10mg time.

I'm very happy of the result since my BP hasn't increase at all. I've tried it in a secure place: an ER waiting room, with my BP Digital BP monitor. After 3 hours the only BP movement was in decrease: Normal little hypotension caused by Parnate.

So today my withdrawal symptom has almost disapear, blinded by the Parnate at almost 75%.

Everything's under control. The next 3 days will be important has I will monitor closely my BP the 2 first hours after I take Parnate 10mg.

Thanks for your advice, I may don't always pick them but at least they gives me options and then an informed decision is possible.

Bon courage,
Marty
