Question about stopping klonopin

Posted by ian34 on March 25, 2006, at 11:41:24

I cut down to .25 mg from 1 mg a day.So far so good. Two days ago I cut to 12.5 mg and I felt jittery. It's not too bad but is that small decrease from such a small does even capable of making me anxious or is it probablyn just stress?

I think it could be your decrease. It seems small but going from .25 to .125 (that is what you meant, right?) is cutting the dose by half.

> I'm down to .25 and am just about ready for another drop - have come down very slowly from 1mg - about 8 months. I have read that the last part of the slow taper is the most difficult, so I am not going to drop to .125 - I definitely think that can cause anxiety, depression. It is difficult to cut a .5 into eight's, so my plan is to grind the half, .25, and to divide into 4 little piles and take three of those per day. That would equal a 25% reduction. Richard

thanks, I cut from 1mg to .25 mg in 4 weeks, no probs but I think that the lamactil is what made it easier because when I came off zanax 4 years ago it took 8 grueling months

Three days ago I cut my Klonapin dose from .25 down to approximately .185, and this morning I am feeling the agitation that I usually experience with a drop in dose. Hard to imagine that such a small drop, although it is 25%, should cause withdrawal symptoms, but Clonazepam is powerful stuff. I know that some do not have such a difficult time with withdrawal, but I am one of the unlucky ones. I have also read that for some, the final drop can leave one with withdrawal symptoms for months! Some even go back on it because it is so difficult. Richard

Yeah, Richard I definitely didn't mean to minimize your stuff. It is strong stuff. I tried to come off it before I was on Lamictal and I was in a compleyte rage, so good luck it'll be ok
