Anyone experience any withdrawl symtoms from Lunesta? My first night off it I didn't sleep. I wanted to stop taking it because I couldn't stand the horrible taste in my mouth that would not go away. It also made my breath smell like a a garbage can. I noticed during the day a horrible craving for sweets.
My pdoc has now prescibed Ambien CR 12.5mg and wants me to take it instead. Anyone out there please post your experience with both of these medications. Thanks

I made that transition recently, I found no withdrawal from lunesta except rebound insomnia. It didn't really work though anyway. Ambien cr is better, but neither is as good as regular ambien for me. I could be wrong (I couldn't decide) but ambien cr may have a taste too. But I've been taking fish oil at night, and it could be that. If I don't get a doctor soon I'll just lay there. I'm using up whatever I can find in the cabinets.

> James KI have had horrible rebound insomnia from Lunesta. Last night was my first night using Ambien CR 12.5mg my husband said I was tossing and turning, thrashing, just acting crazy in my sleep.
In the morning I felt tired, hung over, like I hadn't even slept. Is it still rebound insomnia or the Ambien Cr or a combination of both.
I feel better after a night of sleeping with the help of Lunesta, however the taste that NEVER goes away till you stop taking it and the way it makes my breath smell, is not tolerable long term.
Any other experiences or advice?

i take ambien as needed, but usually 10mg won''t work so i use 20.
but my cousin's a doctor and just went to a presentation dinner on ambien and he said the reports show that you should almost be in bed when you take it because it works so quickly. now i'm sure this was put on by the co. that makes it so i'm sure they will puff up the results, but in general that's what i've been hearing, that it works well with little side effects and only slight groggyness in the morning. do need 8 hours sleep.good luck
