Hi group, I am starting on my 'effexor-withdrawal' journey today. I have unfortunately not had a lot of support from my doctor about my desire to get off Effexor XR, he reffered me to a mood disorder clinic where I proceeded to get the run-around. So, its up to me. I am buying empty capsules and plan to break down my current dosage (150mg) into groups of smaller dosses... 125mg, 115mg, 105mg, and so-on... from reading the posts on this subject I have an idea of what to expect.
I have also been diagnosed as ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) Limbic/Innatentive type and through self-introspection and hind-sight have discovered that my clinical depression, for which I was prescribed the Effexor XR, was a result of having ADD and not having the resources and understanding of what Limbic/Innatentive ADD was and how to deal with certain behaviours. I saw a Psychiatrist for a number of months after getting on my effexor prescription and NOT ONCE did she bring up the possibility of my depression being a result from a different disorder. Has anyone else noticed a similar link between ADD/ADHD and depression?
Anyway, wish me luck and send me withdrawal advice/hints.TahShie

In reply to Withdrawal from Effexor, hints anyone?, posted by TahShie on January 23, 2006, at 13:25:01
Weird I didnt see your post before.. I sure as hell am not a doctor...I fact i was the dumb kid in my family... but correct me if I am wrong but you cant just break down effexor capsuls down like regular pills. See that XR I THINK STANDS FOR TIME RELEASE (sorry..I hit the caps lock) now those capsuls dont devide out the same way.. You might end up with a weird mix of 3 parts this and 1 part that... and the next day you may get 16 parts of this and 1 part that... Now you understand why I am not a teacher.. But dont break those up like that... Especially those mombos...get a smaller dose... other wise you are playing roullete. I think..?
This is the end of the thread.
