Been off for a month now. Feel good. Tend to get upset easy but at least now I can feel. Buzzing in head when eyes move finally ended. Sex drive coming back and food taste better again. My wife loves me off meds and my 16 hates it. The meds work good but side effects and withdrawel were hell.

Good to hear bud! Do you mind sharing how you got off and what dose you started at and how long you were on? I can't wait for food to taste good again.

I was on Effexor for 4 years. I had gotten up to 225mg when we decided to get off. dropped to 150 for 2 weeks then to 75 for 2 weeks then 37.5 for 2 weeks the o. Used Dramemine and Benedryl to keep me from being too sea sick. Good luck. I can feel again. Danny

Danny, how long have you been drug free now?....please let me knowyour withdrawal sounds pretty quick, I've always been advised to dose down much slower than what you describe. I was taking 75mg twice a day, but feeling a little too aggressive and being irresponsible, now taking 37.5mg kind of sporadically, try to take 2 per day.
and my dreams are something else, but doesn't seem to make a difference when I take meds
anyway, withdrawing completely makes me nervous, I've rebounded too much in the past, but sounds like it's worked for you.

I have been off the meds for over a month now. Have not really noticed much of a difference except I am not anxious any more. Depression has not come back. I do tend to get angry but now I let it out, which some folks are not use to seeing, but it was the keeping it turned inward that caused the bulk of my depression. I try not to fly off the handle but 99% of the time it is justified anger. Am working on better ways to express it but it sure feels good to feel again.
I am not saying I will never go on meds again but I needed a break after 15 years and have grown alot since then. Danny

I have been on various medications over the last sixteen years or so. I was put on lexapro last year.
We moved out of our house to do some renovations. I lost my pills and got too busy with the house to fill my script.
That was about three months ago. I think all the physical activity working on the house helped a lot. I didn t have any withdrawl symptoms.
And so far, no relapse. Though I m keeping an eye on myself. I seem to always have another relapse. But I would like to see how long I can go. Hence my re-joining this site.

DANNY??? Did I hear you RIGHT? "sea-sick" meds will help me with this constant feeling of needing a bucket??? I'm trying it.. and if this works, you've got a new best friend!!!
Please, is there anyone out there that can assure me that I'll feel normal again someday?
I've been taking effexor for quite a few years .. it left me FAT but HAPPY!!! In an attempt to lose some weight my trusted Doc did a 'quick wean' (4 days at 75, then 4 days at 37.5) with me so that I could start taking some diet pills. Seriously, even when I missed one dose I felt like I feel right now. I always thought I was crazy or just dehydrated or something. This site and these posts have really helped to reassure me.. BUT I NEED MORE!!! Can anyone give me an idea how long now that I'm 'clean' will I feel like this???

In response to Effexor withdrawal. My pharmacist suggested Bovine, for the head and nausea symptoms. It helped. I had withdrawals for about 8 days. Feel great now.
