i was on a lot of sedating drugs for a long time. here are some:
xanax 1mg four times a day
klonopin 2 mg at night
percocet 7.5/500 three times a day
propranolol 20mg four times a day
seroquel 50-100mg at night
ambien 10mg at night
trazodone 50mg at nightetc. etc.
i was recently in the hospital, and i had these drugs yanked out from under me more or less cold turkey. i get one mg of klonopin at night and nothing much else, except 0.5 of xanax prn. i feel horrible-- can't sit still, am so jittery, want to sleep but can't, and feel generally awful. is this normal? does it get worse? it has been 3-4 days. i've been on the x and k at least for years. can anyone suggest anything to make it better?
i'm also on adderall, which i'm scared they'll take away as well. can i handle stimulant and sedative withdrawal at once? already i feel so horrible! thanks!

You must certainly be in withdrawal! How can you tolerate it? Why would a pdoc take you off all these meds at once. Did you overdose? That's the only reason I can think of. I once had an on-call pdoc yank me off of xanax, and try to only give me 2mg of klonopin at night while in the hospital. Thank God, when I became extremely agitated, crying, etc. the Nurses called another pdoc and he gave me back the xanax. We also now have a Withdrawal Board, which I'm quite sure Dr. Bob will redirect this Thread to. But, you can't just go off all these meds at once, you could have a seizure. Fondly, Phillipa

Three points
1)You are in withdrawal. No doubt about it.
2)There isn't a whole lot you can do to be totally comfortable with that type of cut. It never ceases to amaze me what doctors will do nowadays. First, and I hope this isn't taken personally, but that was one mother of a cocktail. WHoever put you on it and whoever took you off it like that should both have their licenses revoked. Unbelievable. Second, the only way to come off this successfully and with the least discomfort is to go off one drug at a time and very slowly. 5-10% cuts, wait for the body to stabilize, and go again. It could take a long time, but you will be saving yourself a lot of grief, pain, and suffering. The faster you go off the worse the withdrawals and the longer they last.
3)Fill your body with nutrients to help process the healing. I mention some options in a post above. Your body will need them to heal and to replenish what the drugs took out. There are a homeopathic remedies for anxiety as well.
