titrating benzos anyone?

Posted by world citizen on February 17, 2005, at 16:31:46

I'm looking at getting off benzos, again. I think I'm going to try valerian root extract to take the edge off of my poor little GABA receptors. Kava is out of the question due to elevated liver enzymes-thanks to Neurontin-watch out for that stuff!

Anybody else working on this paricular grueling project and like to share notes?

hi there,
i recently got not titrated but yanked from my doses of benzos-- 4 of xanax and 2 of klonopin a day. it was miserable, absolutely painful. i felt like i was crawling out of my skin, and so unpeaceful in any position or activity. i've since been restarted on half the original doses for a slower taper, so that's eons better than cold turkey.
i don't know much about the natural stuff, but i wish you luck because this withdrawal sucks!

I agree.

When I had to get off of Klonopin and Ativan, I found that I was better off taking very small doses several times a day than taking larger doses once a day or once every two or three days. I tried not to let the withdrawal symptoms emerge for more than an hour or so before taking my next miscisule dose.

Of course, what worked for me may not work for you, but I did not experience much discomfort doing it this way.

I really, REALLY hope that it helps make things easier for you. Please post how things go for you.

I'm trying to figure out ways to make drug withdrawal more tolerable for people. I wish more people from the main Psycho-Babble board would submit descriptions of the strategies that worked for them. I am playing with some ideas that include the use of certain anticonvulsants.
