In reply to Re: Anyone had success -Effexor XR? NOT ME/to NOA, posted by Zannah on April 26, 2000, at 17:15:55
I've been injecting Methamphetamine for about 11 years. In the past 6 months I've been trying to quit. I have no more veins left so I've been reduced to eating it. I don't take it to "get high". I only take as much as I need to be able to function normally. Unfortunately I'm an extremely functioning addict. Most people don't even know about my use or the fact that I used it intravenously everyday for the past decade.
So I'm trying to quit, and I just got back from my first appointment with a doctor. He gave me 5 weeks worth of samples of Effexor XR. And after reading all the posts from other people taking Effexor XR I'm not so sure this is the way to go. I'm hoping someone will have some advice or experiences of their own they can share with me that might help?
Thanks,
Megan

I don't think it's the way to go. Taking meth for that long suggests something about what your system craves and it's hard to see Effexor filling the hole.
And having taken it for so long must have done stuff to you that doesn't seem fixable by Effexor.I'd (why the hell listen to me?) be suggesting you look at
deprenyl
hydergine
rhodiola
DLPA
mucana pruriens
vinpocetine
antioxidants

The reason I suggested those things is that they (except vinpocetine) affect dopamine, as meth does.
The antioxidants are just there to be protective.
