I have disclosed much about my meth use...er, I mean abuse. I know it is a very bad drug and some people would be shocked if they even knew about it. They really would have less respect for me.
My question to you today is "Do any of you think of me with less respect for it?"
I would if I was me. (wait...I am me.)
PS. I don't use it anymore- about 16 months.

Hey Curt
You mentioned the meth first off, so I never knew you without it. What I look for here is a tone of voice; that's all we get, that and the words themselves. We don't see any behaviours, except how we treat each other. No, I don't think any less of you, of course not.
In our harsh world of winners and losers life is a race and the one with the most whatever at the end wins. (who dies with the most toys wins). But in other times life was different eg a pilgrimage for the making of souls. I try to remember not to take our modern world too seriously and to remain uncolonised by market forces and their dreary products.

I'll kill two birds with one stone.
I don't think any of us would be hanging around on the substance board if we hadn't done some things we or others might be concerned about. Drugs is Drugs. (glue, lsd, crack, booze, pot) I laid off before meth was a big deal. All I can say is lucky me.
I noticed on another area that you wondered about antabuse. I vote no. I took it for a while, just to make a doctor happy so I could discharge from a bad inpatient. It's a vicious drug. You are putting poison into your body just on the off chance that if you drink, you'll get so sick you'll want to die (if you don't). I had side-effects. Depending on how sensitive you are, you could have a reaction to alcohol in toiletries or vinegar. You have to be totally detoxed before you can try it, and it stays in your system for up to two weeks. I think it is only for end stage alcoholics, the kind who will flat out die if they drink again, and that's the kind of alcoholic most likely to drink anyway.
Just my two or three cents.

As to your self-respect, curt. You stopped one of the most difficult and destructive addictions. You deserve a notch on your belt.
My brain is not sharp these days. Aftermath of a medical test. Maybe some of my current problems were caused by my hard drug use, back in the day. It is what it is.
All will be well, curt. It isn't, right now, perhaps. But this too, shall pass. All will be well.

I always appreciate honest posts, and respect the people who make them. As Rumi said, you're helping people you've never seen and will not meet.
warm regards, Jake

If I can organise myself enough I'll try to find my Coleman Barks Rumi. He's a lot of fun, isn't he?

I'm a big fan of Coleman. Part Tennessee r*dneck and part scholar (somewhat like me). He imparts an
inspiring message of love given by a Muslim guy from about 600 years ago.warm regards, Jake
