It just happened one day

Posted by curtm on May 2, 2006, at 19:52:35

I used to smoke weed daily for a long time, but not much at a time. Then one day I suddenly lost all desire to do it anyore. My pothead friends couldn't understand why and I couldn't either.

Hmm. Something changed; maybe it was you? Maybe it was the weed? Either way you've saved yourself a bunch of money and probably years of healthier living. I wouldn't think it's necessarily a bad thing.

Hi Curt
On the Psych board you said that you became bipolar after quitting drugs, or something like that. Do you think cannabis helped keep your bipolarity in check? It wouldn't be the first time I've heard that.

** yes Declan.
I am positive that is the case. Along with alcohol and other illicit drugs. Some people with disorders self-medicate with the drug/drugs that most likely "sooths" the symptoms of the problem without even realizing it. If they, I, experimented enough, and having bipolar disorder, I would eventually find it. Yes MJ inhibits the anxiety, etc. of bipolar, and stimulants excite depression, etc. illicitly on the street. That was my occurance, as you mentioned, the rest is true.

There was a TV program about this bloke who was a very heavy daily user of cannabis for a number of years and on quitting abruptly, went bipolar. Prior to this there was no sign of it. Like some withdrawal reaction. And I've seen manic people use pot. Used for speed comedowns too.

I wasn't a heavy user of Cannabis sativa spp. indica (pot), but I was of di-methylamphetamine hydrochloride (meth).
I think that the supression/withdrawal effect would cause the same result upon quitting abruptly.

Sorry for the stupid scientific nomenclature...
