6 months

Posted by ClearSkies on March 3, 2006, at 21:28:08

I still feel like a real baby at this.
I wonder if I will ever feel Normal about being sober? Will it ever feel like a natural state and require no conscious thought?
I can't think of anyone, *anyone* I've met outside of AA or Women For Sobriety who abstain from drinking. That speaks volumes about the people I know, and who I'm related to.

Just wanting to be a normal person who doesn't drink.

!!!Congratulations on 6 months!!!

I guess we got sober about the same time. (Maybe I already said this? My brain gets really fried at times)
I will have 6 months on the 9th. 4 more days.

It's nice to have people walking along the same path.

Blessings,
--Dee

Thanks, Dee! (nm)

Congrats ClearSkies on 6 months. I recently blew a 33 day start but have had a few miracles along the way too.

Twice in the last week I was out the door on a beer run and turned back. Another time during my 33 day stint, I got half way and my daughter saw me walking, gave me a ride to the store, and I bought healthy food instead.

Usually when I "commit" to a beer run, I'm past the point of no-return. The missiles are launched and a madman has the recall code. So aborting a beer run for me is a miracle.

Perhaps there's hope and a new direction.

................ a normal person who doesn't drink .......... hearing this loud and clear.

You have done so well. You have achieved far more than I can believe possible for myself right now.

I am proud of you.

It used to give me instantaneous anxiety to attempt to stop a Planned Purchase. I broke into a cold sweat just thinking about not carrying my mission out to its dismal completion.

Yay Verne!

Your kind words mean so much to me, Sabrina. I really started this journey long before this 6 month mark, and you were along for that trip too.
Do you want to hitch a ride with me?
OK I will stop with the owww metaphors.

:) I'll hitch a ride - but I might not stay on - and I don't want to let me (or you) down. And that is all I am doing lately. Since you stopped with the metaphors - I shall stop with the whole " failure " thing.

Thanks my friend - you have always been there for me!

Every day is a miracle. Don't let anyone *ever* call you a failure.

A failure is someone who doesn't try.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Seems like everytime I post about drinking I end up drinking - as now.

I'm not feeling too bad about it though. In a crazy way it's not the end of the world when I get into the day or moment.

My thoughts surrounding my drinking cause me more pain the drinking itself.
