Hi, in the past i have used ecstasy on a weekend basis for about a month or so at a time. ive done this a few times.
I am now begining to wonder what i really did to my brain, physically and mentally.
perhaps this drug use is what caused my need for lithium on top of Efexor.
if anyone has any info on ecstasy use and its effects on the brain, it would be much appreciated.

I am bipolar 1. Since you take lithium I asume you are bipolar too.
I triggered my first mania after taking amphetamine a couple of times. During this period I also took ecstasy a couple of times and also fellt manic on it. I donīt know if it was the ecstasy (MDMA) itself that made me feel manic or the fact that i already was manic or if there was some amphetamine in the ecstasy pills but since ecstasy (MDMA) is chemically related to amphetamine it may very well have this mania inducing effect.
My recommendation for you is to not take it, its not worth it AT ALL, being manic feels good but it can have terrible consequences. Besides MDMA is best the first time you take it and even at itīs best itīs not such a big deal.
Take care
