It's that awful time of evening again, when I haven't had a drink and have begun to really need one, and I'm trying to stall for time, but know it's not going to work for long. I get the most awful physical feeling in my stomach - sort of like stage fright, but worse. It was easier to get up and talk unprepared in front of an audience of 2000 people than to get through this evening agony. Day after day.

How about you do something now that will break with your habit of getting that first drink? It's helped me before. A couple of times I have picked up a mop and cleaned the kitchen floor instead of gulping down that first drink. It did help me to allay the anxiety that I get leading up to that first one.
(My kitchen floor is pretty clean by now.)
You could do something different, of course - whatever isn't in your usual routine.
Just an idea.

I know this feeling so well. I wouldn't normally feel it until I got home from work. I'm starting to feel it earlier and earlier. Yesterday was I outdid myself when I wanted a drink at 7:15 am!! (I didn't drink until 5:30 pm)
