Hi SAW,

I'm planning on posting again now that I'm home. I had a couple of challenges this summer, including my first black out, when I ended up in another state with an ex-boyfriend (luckily a good guy!) but with no memory of getting there, and my first true mania when I left the house to go shopping and didn't come home for over a week.

Anyway, I've been doing pretty well with the drinking since late August, but am just coming to terms with the fact that I truly _am_ bipolar.

I'd be glad to chat with you about anything I've posted before, or anything at all really. If I can help, or even just listen, I'd be happy to.

Best to you,

Caper

Hi Caper

I remember reading your previous posts and identifying with you. I am really battling and fighting against the reality of my alcoholism. I have been receiving a tremendous amount of support and understanding from partlycloudy and don't know what I would do without her and I would like to add you to my support basket aswell.

I do prefer the other boards but check this one out daily. Please surf around and jump in on my threads. Look forward to getting to know you.

Sabrina

Hi Sabrina,

Good to "meet" you. I think I know what you mean about the alcoholism. I still cannot believe it happened to me after 30 years of being able to take it or leave it (alcohol, I mean).

I've got my little one home sick from school today, but when he's occupied I will check out your posts and threads. I'm happy someone found that my ramblings made sense!

I agree with you about partlycloudy- she's a bright spot in my day when I'm posting. A very classy, honest, empathetic and insightful lady.

I look forward to getting to know you. Maybe we can help each other. I don't know if you've read the posts in which I discuss my in-patient hospitalizations, but in case you haven't I want to say again that in a decent program, so much of the help I received was from the other patients. Doctors, therapists, mental health techs etc., can give us advice and theories, but _we_ are the ones who really know what it's like to fight substance abuse and/or mood disorders. That's why I like this site- it's a way to share that doesn't cost $2000 a day!

I hope to be able to post regularly again now that I'm not manic and drinking twice my body weight daily and running off without realizing it!

Things will get better. They just _do_. Just not as quickly or as easily as we'd like. Take care of yourself.

Best wishes,

Caper

30 years??? I had the feeling, or the impression that you are quite young??

And yes, I cannot afford therapy right now which is why this site means so much to me and why I might lose my job. (Eeesh, can't afford internet at home).

Nevertheless, corresponding with those who have "BEEN THERE DONE THAT" is wonderful therapy and has helped me alot.

Will chat to you soon (really not a good day today, very selfish and in a me me me me pit)
