and the drug test results are in...

Positive for cannibus and opiates. I had my suspicions about the cannibus, but opiates OMG. It is this missing time business, and I discovered needle marks so my T wanted me to go for a drug screen. In the past it has been amphetamenes (gosh, my spelling is terrible), but what kind of a needle junkie am I???

freaking out about this. I just want this nightmare to stop.

I'm sorry, Alexandra. I don't know you yet, but I do know what it's like to be missing time. If something ever felt like the bottom dropping out of your world, it's not knowing what you've done. When do you see your T again?

I see my T tomorrow. Things aren't so good between us, however, and I am worried that she will terminate me tomorrow. I usually see her weekly but had last week off as she wanted to get supervision for my case. I would rather have psychotherapy from my p-doc but he is hanging back hoping things will work out ok between me and my T. He works primarily as an inpatient doc. He likes to see people when they are at their worst, give them meds, watch them improve (hows that for job satisfaction?) and discharge them back to their community p-docs. My T is very CBT which I have to admit I am sick to death of. She can't handle the missing time and the voices etc. She wants my p-doc to give me psychotherapy too, but he is hanging back. He says that he is not sure whether he believes in alters or not: and he is stuck in the 'we have to choose between alters as a response to trauma, therefore get you to switch and work on fusion v's alters are a treatment induced artifact. I believe there is a middle ground here, so I am working on him!!! Sorry, probably more than ya wanted to know...

So is your T going to base termination on the drug test results? Or what was that supposed to prove? My p-doc works so differently; she would only take me on if I agreed to seek therapy as an adjunct. None of this patch me up and send me on my way - it's a long term treatment with her.

Sounds to me like you are very lucky indeed :-)

I don't think it is the test result so much as it actually hitting home to her that I need someone who is prepared to try to help me work on the missing time.

If I can help at all, you know I'm here. Please persist with your T - this is terribly important!

I know I'm a very very lucky woman. Without the coordinated care I've had this past year I don't think I would be able to string a sentence together.

Alexandra,
If she's not qualified to handle your case, ask her to find someone who is. You'd be much better off with someone who has real expertise in your area, than someone who is trying to learn as they go and is perhaps intimidated or afraid with treating you. Find out who's the best.
