> Hello,
>
> My name is Mark, and I am a second year biochemistry student at the University of Alberta. I have changed my life around from my teenage criminal past. I previously fought off a cocaine addiction, and a lifestyle of drug-dealing. Now, with a research career ahead in a few years things look brighter.

> Not bright enough however. I have ADHD, and SAD. I currently take 20mg Paxil, and 40mg Dexedrine SR. Dexedrine helps me in incredible ways, I don’t think I would have made it this far without. I can’t stop overtaking – overdosing, it seems beyond my control. It is destroying my school; yet it provides me with the ability to be equal to my peers. I am a fucking wreck. What do I do? I can’t tell my doctor? I realize that school is more important than anything; however the addiction empowers me to make the wrong choices.

pls, pls, pls, tell your dr. you have turned your life around and kudos to you for doing that. but with your cocaine usage in the past, you must be very careful not to abuse your ADD meds. i understand that it has gotten you this far, but it can also destroy your life. if you are a wreck now then where will you be in 1 yr? don't give up, you can see this through. but your Dr. must be involved.

I,m not real sure about all the other folks, but I think you should really take a long, hard look in the mirror,IC,and ask yourself, honestly,if you think the way the drugs are affecting you is the way your doc, yourself, the drug makers, and anyone else concerned,is helping you in a positive manner that should be continued,so they can keep on doing what they are designed for:to help your situation that you take them for,to be more managable and your quality of life, better,as a result.(Wheewhhh, what a mouth full!)If you look at the situation,as is,how can you say yes?I tried messin with self-medicating too,for ADD,and it sure got messy.I figured out fast that I better leave the doctorin up to my DR.,while I was still functionable. It,s awful tough, but us ADD folks are notorious for abusing drugs, mostly trying to feel"normal"or get to a "to;erable state of mind".I guess I said that right.Go see the doc,IC,before you really mess yourself up,if he/she is a good doc, they,ll fix you up so you can keep on truckin,!Festus
