Dihydrocodeine / Contugesic HELP

Posted by Nicky on November 18, 2003, at 5:35:03

Someone I know has asked for help on detoxing from Contugesic. They are taking Contugesic which is 60mg of time released dihydrocodeine in an ergot base. They are taking 1/2 tablet (30mg time release) 4 times a day or two whole tablets (60mg) one upon waking and one at around 4pm.

How do they detox from this? I have searched the web and cant find any info on detoxing from this. Please help.

Thanks.

dihydrocodiene is not readily available in north america, hence the lack of info on it. it is basically 2 to 2 1/2 times stronger than codiene. pills should not be halfed as they are timed release. tell your friend to decrease usuage slowly, maybe one whole pill in the morning and another whole pill in the evening. gradually wait longer to take it in the morning and eliminate the evening pill. once on one pill a day, then withdrawl symptoms should be minimal to stop completely....
