Gratitude

Posted by Angela2 on February 5, 2015, at 13:54:18

I think it can be really easy to get completely caught up in what's negative in my life sometimes, and feeling like I don't measure up. Like I feel bad about myself around my neighbors, for instance. so I thought I'd write a list of awesome things that i've got going on in my life. Here it is:

1. I have an appt. with a new therapist next week. I feel really good about this, hopeful, and excited.

2. I decided not to date for a whole year. Instead, I'm going to work on myself. It will be the year of Angela. lol. Today is day 4. And even though negative things are coming up, I'm glad they are, because i think they're important. I feel really good about my decision and I'm excited.

3. Tea. tea always makes me happy. My current favorite is green tea with ginger.

4. I'm going to a poetry reading tomorrow. I've never been to one before, but I'm going to try to keep an open mind. Stay curious with no expectations.

5. Someone I wasn't sure I cared for, and who I didn't think cared for me, wrote me an awesome email. At the end, they said "Be well in all ways." It really put me in a good mood. :)

6. I watched a movie called "The Skeleton Twins", yesterday. It was really good and I felt like I could relate to it. It touches a lot on suicide and depression, but despite this, it is also funny, and heart warming. I highly recommend it.

7. I think there's an empowering feeling about saying, this is where i am right now, this is what I'm doing, and I'm ok with it. For instance, I don't have a job, but I'm on disability, and I'm ok with that. I'm working on myself. And that is working for me. Regardless of what people with certain political beliefs may think, I am grateful for what the government is doing for me.

I think that you wrote a really good list, Angela. It sounds like you have some things to look forward to over the coming days and weeks, and I hope that you'll find some opportunities for enjoyment and personal growth with the things that you'll be doing. Here's a list of things that I'm grateful for:

1. Treatment options to help with the difficulties I have with concentration, energy, and sleep regulation. So, the improvements that I've written about as far as my energy and concentration are concerned, which I attributed to the vitamin D3 that I've been taking, have seemed to fizzle out. I will keep taking the D3 and don't know if it will help me much in the long run, but it's good to know that if the vitamin D3 doesn't help much that I still have other treatment options that might prove to be useful.

2. Support. Even though there have been times in my past when some of those around me have not seemed to be very understanding, I would say that I have a stronger support system now than I did in my past, and I think that having the support system that I have might prevent things from spiraling too far out of control, especially if I continue to struggle with treatments that only prove to be so helpful in the long run.

3. The basics. I wouldn't say that I have the same financial struggles that I used to have, and to have the resources to cover my basic needs and some things that I want is something that I'm very grateful for.

That's all I can think of for now, but I might add more to my list later.

Hey Tomatheus,

Wow, so D3 helped you that much? That's awesome. Though I'm sorry to hear it's not helping you now. I take D3, but not regularly. I really should though in this climate. I'm happy for you that you have a good support network. We all need that! I know how important that is. Great list :)

> Wow, so D3 helped you that much?

I definitely seemed to be feeling quite a bit better, and although it's hard to say with certainty that I was feeling better due to the vitamin D3, I couldn't attribute the boost in my energy and concentration to anything else. As I said, though, I will keep taking the vitamin D3. I'm already taking some other supplements besides my usual D3 and B3 (and Abilify) -- I took some garlic and monolaurin today -- and they may be doing some good right now. I have, however, taken garlic and monolaurin in the past with only short-lived benefits, so I'm not expecting much in the long run from them.

Anyway, thanks for asking about the D3 and for responding to what I wrote. I hope that you'll have a good night.

I think this belongs on my wall. Not sure why... But it makes me smile.
