My family doctor is helping me out

Posted by Partlycloudy on June 9, 2014, at 12:01:47

...while I am between Pdocs. What a great woman, and very sensible. She had me make a safety pact with her (happy to do so) and as soon as I remember the name of the new pdoc I was going to see, I will make an appointment.

Basically making the taper of Klonopin and Ambien more gradual, because of the risks (especially from long term Ambien use) the rehab doctor put me at. I knew it was happening way too quickly, but being treated as an addict versus a psychiatric patient is a huge difference. One is a matter of "choice" and can be thought away, according to the place I was. The other was non existent.

Shudder.

Hey, PC, I responded to u on the meds board. Im glad family dr is stepping in. Yes, tough to be viewed as an addict rather than psych pt. That mustve been very difficult. Such a fast taper. I don't know how u did it? Im hoping u can find a good taper rate or try valium, as I suggested on the meds board. Im having such an easy time of tapering the valium vs tapering the klonopin.

I wrote you on the meds board, but rehab acts like a doctor or hospital but are not. Sounds like a tough, maddening experience.

Yup when worked charge in inpatient employee assistance program. All seemed to get either an SRI or Lithium? Didn't matter length of time when the patient was discharged if they were being tapered from benzos and alcohol their last dose of valium was the discharge dose. I do wonder what happened to many of them. Phillipa

Thanks, Gadchik. I must say that I proved to be more resilient than I thought I could be, and I was determined to stand up for myself. I was one squeaky wheel.
There were a few changes made while I was there because I spoke up. The weeds on the facility grounds were cleaned up, and more time daily dedicated to quiet meditation. (They weren't doing what they claimed they would do on their website: encourage inner silence and give us a beautiful setting for it.)

I can't believe I went voluntarily. Relieved it is behind me.
Thanks for your response - it means a lot to be heard.
