I 'd like to start a blog, Not a website, just a simple simple blog, without webhosting or anything or at least with as little of that as possible.
I just don't find anything that clearly explains how.
I was thinking of wordpress. I don't want to use blogspot because of google, although blogspot seems more accessible.
But I don't quite understand what I do and don't need to do to create a basic, simple blog. I am also confused about how or how many ads appear on a blog if you don't pay someone to not have ads.
The whole thing is explained in what I find to be a confusing way.
Or maybe someone could recommend a book that describes how to do this?

I have a blogger blog(google) it's fairly easy but i've run into problems that took me days to fix. i'm not a computer guy.\
I hear that blogger is easier and with wordpress a bit more knowledge of code is needed. blogger is self hosted, wordpress isn't
i think that you can do much more customization. you don't have to have ads.
google used to take their ten dollar yearly fee automatically but you have to you have to do it differently now. i was getting tons of email saying to pay the fee and was freaking out because nothing worked. I took my blog down so they might not close blogger, youtube, and my 7 years of gmail down. i went to a forum and some hotshot said look you paid it 3 months ago. ok genius how do i get into my locked blog?
not sure if wordpress is better..guess it depends on the host.
my only point is if you have a problem with blogger your only place to get help is a forum. blogger has instructions but they are scattered everywhere. if you don't pay you lose gmail and the rest.
you will not find a google human, period.
still i like blogger and generally it's very easy till you hit a speedbump.
