I'm not a fan of Ozrock generally.
However many people here will be sure to empathise with this. The writer is long dead (as one would expect).

Tender is the Night
I knew him as a gentle young man
I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes
And years before his timeSurrounded himself with shiny things
First night tickets, ermine, pearls upon a string
And disappeared in all the pestilence
that sudden pleasure bringsHe never asks after her anymore
He made a point of losing her address
And every trinket that she ever touched
he keeps locked away
And just burns up In the furnace of hIs chestWell I spoke to a man who says he's done it all
and the only thing that pleases or excites him now
is hurting, hurting then hurting some more
There's someone I want to forget tonight
Don't you want to forget someone too?
I left him, and I can leave you tooBaby let's go out tonight
It will all turn out all right I'm sure
Don't want to drink at home again tonight
So let's go out
Let's go out tonight
It's getting dark earlier now
But where you are it's just getting light
Where you are it will just be getting light

merry late x-mas sigi-
i never knew of this band until my depression hit a few years ago and i somehow stumbled across them...
the triffid's remind me a bit of the brit band roxy music if you know of them.
the triffid's didn't make it here in the usa. bummer. i think many would have liked them. whoever wrote the lyrics for them sure was a sensitive type. i am assuming it was 'david' the one that passed away. he was my age. i read one of the members is now a high school teacher. i am curious if he plays for his students.
here is my fave triffid song;
'sleep no more...remember my name'...i think it this song by these guys also speaks to many here as you mentioned with your song above...

here is one a person in a support group turned me on to;
love the line about 'slaying the dragon' in it.
quite different than 'from a land down under!' no? ;)

Estuary Bed, the best one.
They were very alternative and druggy; I loved them. They had songs with titles like 'Everything is turning green'.

And he captured it so well with
'wasting away, just wasting away, for hours and hours and hours'
under pleasant circumstances, it is true.
This is the end of the thread.
