Europe (speaking of)

Posted by Partlycloudy on October 5, 2013, at 9:30:49

I'll be there for the next 10 days, on an archaeological tour of Pompeii and Hercullaneum in Southern Italy. Wish I was excited and not trying to drag my *ss there because of the cessation of extended release Wellbutrin. I will be able to tell you all about the qualities of soil and ancient roads.

Great travels! Sounds very interesting. My son went to Europe for his 21st bday in August, he loved every minute.

Hi PC,

I look forward to hearing about ancient roads and soil. I'm glad your dragging yourself there, maybe just getting away from home will help you fight off the Wellbutrin withdrawal.

I've been reading about C7 Europe, the Muslims, the Christians and the Jews, mainly in Spain. Mentions of Roman roads for armies to march along. "God's Crucible", David Levering Lewis, from NYC.

It's such an unknown time, at least for me.

Wow. I hope that the journey helps you feel better. And just when your kitchen was done, too.

I find traveling to other countries uplifting. Maybe after you get there you will feel better, like a situational antidepressant. Have a great trip! herpills

Here I am in the middle of the trip and I had to take a day off to regroup. The crowds can be overwhelming. I feel rather like a special needs person trying to keep the sounds down. It is a fantastic tour, and I decided to skip the museum trip day.

My kitchen still has miles to go before I sleep, but it is coming along beautifully.

Feeling like I won the "disabled" label like a prize in a contest right now. But loving, for today, the solitude, the sleep, and the surroundings.

P.S. Pompeii was enormous and heartbreaking to see. It's a vast site, as far as Roman excavations go. We traversed the length of it. Many rooms, villas, and areas are closed off due to lack of funding for keeping the places cleared and staffed. Life in modern day Italy means not enough money to keep these places staffed to generate the tourism income. Those Roman roads btw are not for the high heeled (of which I saw none), and keeping my eyes on the ground proved to be a smart tactic.

Oh goodness no!! But the crowds in small spaces did me in almost every day. Haven't had to deal with that challenge, ever. Some rooms I would wait for the group to funnel through, then pop in for myself. And my deodorant worked well.
The trip exhausted me, with hardly a moment of solitude scheduled in. It really wore me out to be with a bunch of people and find privacy only in a loo.
Group was primarily British, with us and an Australian couple being the exceptions. 25 people.
