Posted by gadchik on January 24, 2013, at 16:49:23

Thanks, he is considering Prague. I will have him look at Granada and Berlin. I have never been to Europe. I wonder if its good to book the trip thru a package deal online?

My daughter loved Berlin (I have never been). I loved London and Paris, though when I was in London, the weather was consistently beautiful - 70's, sunny, very un-London-like. Have never been to Rome or Barcelona. Everyone tells me I should.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will mention these cities. I told him that this wont be the last time he will go, so dont get overwhelmed about which cities to go to. But he will probably research every city b4 deciding.

Gadchick the courtries are so close together you could visit three countries. The countries I'd visit are Switzerland, France, And Austria. If only one country my choice is Switzerland. So many closes cities small ones countryside ones with cobblestone streets. Belgium is also nice and Maybe babblemail Jeroen as to cities. Phillipa

Never been to Europe and probably never will be able to. BUT, I would hit London and Berlin. Non-negotiable.

tough choices...

not really!

21 years-old and in love? come on...

1. paris for sure. (has he seen midnight in paris?) no matter how typical it is and how much a pain-in-the-*ss the parisians are, there is no other city like it for lovers...
2. ? too many choices. i'll leave that to others or his own interests.
3. http://images.wikia.com/travel/en/images/5/5c/Beuatiful_places_greece_coolaristo_5.jpg

i'm prejudiced on #3 since i grew-up on a greek island. skip athens and all the trouble. the islands are still safe. let me know if you want specific info on an island experience. there are 300 of them! from super crowded to isolated to in-between. all wonderful depending on what your looking for.

Thanks for your input. Everyday, he texts me about a different city. One he will def go is Dublin for a dark pint in a pub on his birthday. We will put together a pkg soon,so the decision has to be made! Im so excited for him. As I wanted to travel like that, but was too anxious. Now I feel too old, like my body couldnt handle time change, long flight, different environment, etc.

I did seven weeks in Europe with my sons two summers ago. My surprise favourite was Vienna, which has tons to do, and great food. Surprise, because I didn't expect I'd like it as much as I did. I thought it would be a low point on the trip, for some reason, but I was wrong. And the beer!

I also really loved Munich. Bavaria is a very beautiful part of Germany. A day trip to the Alps (which thrust straight out of a flat plain), and Schloss Neuschwanstein is well worth the effort. Schloss Neuschwanstein was the model for Walt Disney's castle, by the way. And the beer!

I also really loved Edinburgh. If you can schedule it to include the Fringe festival, all the better. But the fringe spirit carries on throughout the summer. And the beer!

Too many choices....tough to pick just three. Prague? Budapest?

Wow, you've given me tons of info! He is thinking of Vienna due to Jung and Freud, and he is a pschology/behavioral neuroscience major. I did tell him that it wont be his only trip to Europe because he's so overwhelmed by the magnitude of choices. The Alps idea is great. Im going to copy what you wrote and send to him:)Btw, any tips for the best airports to fly in to? I guess that depends on your plans.I think he'll do an "open jaw" flight and fly home from the last destination. I think he's decided to fly in to Dublin...
