homesick

Posted by no rose garden on November 4, 2012, at 16:30:41

I've never been homesick before - camp, college, moving across the country for graduate school. But now I'm soo homesick (for the place I went to grad school in CA). I'm in the DC area now and everybody seems so unfriendly. I also miss all my friends and my T (((T))) and the town. The first day I was here I cried so much. Yesterday the librarian was rude to me and I cried again. Today, I had trouble getting a special metro card and the attendant lady was getting really annoyed at me and I cried so much again...

and the water here tastes so gross and it's cold and everything is expensive. I just want to go back :(

The weather change is a lot all by itself
You moved for a job?

thanks sg...hope everything's getting better up there too...

My sister lives an hour away...but isn't really that convenient since I don't have a car and can't get there by public transportation in less than 2 or 3 hrs.

I want to go back so bad. I'm so lonely.

((( Rose )))

Places have personalities, I think. I always thought I disliked New Orleans until we looked into moving elsewhere. New Orleans is hot and sticky and downright unpleasant at least four months of the year. But it is such an accepting and open place. It's not, in my case, that others weren't friendly where we thinking of going. They were. But the personality of the place was different.

But D.C. is a big place. The advantage of big places is that it's likely with time that you'll find a circle of people who you enjoy being with.

(The Metro people were so nice to us when we visited and couldn't figure anything out. Could you pretend to be a tourist?)
