Tabitha I'm seeing the dermatologist in a couple of hours to see what he says about the strong steroid he's had me use aggressively over last week. I still see skin changes in areola. I'm terrified as my anxiety is so high now and no idea where to turn. This is pagets ca that he's looking for and two types one in the milk ducts that leaks out the nipple. My friend on facebook my mammo tech had the doc read my mammogram from April again and they saw nothing behind the nipple in ducts I guess. But come to find out there is a second form that effects the nipple & areola and that seems like what it would be. So I don't even know if the dermatologist will biopsy or what. I can't think. I'm a mess. But no biopsy has been done yet. I have never felt so helpless. And with being old and other pains my tolerance is zero. If I could scream help I would. Someone cared and it's you. That means a lot. Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,
It might be a good sign if the derm doesn't think it needs biopsy, but if you need it for peace of mind I hope you'll insist on it.

I looked up a little about that disease-- I can understand your concern since it says it can mimic benign skin conditions and can get misdiagnosed. But it's rare, so I'm still very hopeful yours is the more common skin condition.

Anxiety plus information about rare diseases on the internet is not a good combo, huh? It can really get you going.

I had the biopsy done. As it's said to be l00% accurate in distinguishing between skin and the Pagets. It was the dermatologist who brought up the term Pagets at the first visit as he was very very concerned. So that was the first time I heard of it. This time I said I'd contacted my mammogram center and had the April reread and he said it can't be diagnosed by mammogram. So I guess he knows his stuff. So I guess in week or so will know the results. Now no cream it's twice a day wound care for l0 days. No anxiety doesn't do well at all with this or any other illness. It's amazing how the thyroid changed my anxiety as was almost absent before. Phillipa

Im thinking of you and hope all is well. As we get older, I guess we will all face health issues.I have extreme anxiety when anything goes wrong like that. Maybe thats why I need to stick with klonopin.

Good Phillipa, I am glad you will get a conclusive answer soon. Try not to assume worst case scenario until them. Think what if it turns out benign-- would you want to have spent all these days convinced it was cancer? Nope.

Kind of put out of my mind for now. If it returns then anxiety will also. But in a week so so the jury will be in. Phillipa
