Anyone ever think that life has cheated them?

Posted by sleepygirl2 on March 3, 2012, at 23:58:37

I'd like to get rid of this feeling. It's draining my energy.
I want a job I can count on, and the means to make a nice little home, but I feel so disposable. I can't get rid of the feeling that others don't have this worry.
It's not for lack of trying on my part.
I feel entitled to these things, but I wish I could be comfortable with the fact that there are no guarantees. I wish I could feel ok with that.

Yeah.. Sleepy.. there really are *No* guarantees. Even the best preparations and luck can have your life feeling like you've got everything you wanted - then things can turn on a dime and you get thrown a curve ball that changes everything.

It might help if you are able to really see that those around you who "look" like they've got it all together probably have things going on that would leave you glad you have your own life - and not theirs. Really.

There can be something very elegant about a life lived simply.

Very true I used to have it together and now no longer then I go out and see others that seem to have it worse but they seem to have accepted it. Hard to accept. Phillipa

That feeling you have of being disposable...it's not pleasant, but it's interesting.....I doubt you are alone in feeling that. It's something about the world we live in.

The older you get the more (I don't know about disposable but certainly replaceable ) you feel.

You ever think about how, when you pack up your parents' stuff after they die, how little space it takes?

It seemed so much bigger when you were a kid.

That's my experience.

Exactly, age has me feeling more invisible, replaceable.Nothing made me feel as needed and valued as being mom to a child, but child becomes teenager, and thats a real kick in the gut.

I know what you mean about your child growing up. That sent me over the edge. Work and raising her were my main reasons for being. So when I had a set-back professionally and she was entering her teens, it completely derailed me.

>I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing-Agatha Christie

And she had been a pharmacist, hadn't she, back in the days when being a pharmacist was more interesting?
