An exciting time for him, but probably a big adjustment for him too?
But I suppose different people tolerate change in different ways. I'm not so good with it.
I'm not a parent, but I think, if I were I'd be tempted to get some of that bubble wrap stuff and wrap my kids in it, so the bumps wouldn't do too much damage.
a big adjustment for you, but still...
Congratulations are also in order,
You did a nice job.
But again, difficult, to be sure.

I had not realised how painful it would be when that happened to me.

So,this is survivable.See sleepygirl, this is what is so horrendous about the endeavor. You have to let them go.Even if it was the happiest time of your life.Im gloomy,I know,Im sad,Im worried, but no pill is gonna take it away.I have to go through it,that's what's meant to be.As this song says,"Darkness always turns into light"

gadchik I was listening to this song earlier today and didn't realize the line "let's take a breath jump over the side" is saying something done together even if in this case it's an act of individuation. I'm glad he won't be too far. I had difficulty sending my child to primary school :-( so I can only imagine how difficult university might be.

I want to congratulate your family and your son, too, for getting into the university. I wish your family the best.

My only daughter went to school fice hours away. I don't know how many times my husband and I did that drive -- at least once a semester and she did the busride home as often. But I realized, as she got older, that our relationship had changed fundamentally. She is now 23 -- no longer a child. It's wierd, hard, to see your child become an adult.

Realize you are lucky he's only 3-1/2 hour away. So many kids go to college across the continent, hours and hours away.
Best of luck.

The pain of a kid growing up is one of life's good pains.
