Time to quit smoking

Posted by Christ_empowered on September 16, 2011, at 16:00:24

I started smoking again because I was bored, anxious, and depressed. Its time to quit, I think. Today when I got a pack and a new lighter, it rang up 6.66. It was funny, but still--time to quit. I just dread the actual, you know, QUITTING process.

I never managed to be a successful smoker. So much skill is needed to enjoy these available drugs. And effort. I tried and tried. Didn't start until I was 30, that was the problem. Stopped as soon as I stopped trying.

Sigi me either. Only when drank beer and peeled the labels off them needed to use hands for something else also. PJ

CE, time to look at Zonked's recent threads. He just did, did you know? (Probably.)

I suppose it isn't fair to add to the responses above that I could never smoke, either. I tried when I drank, like PJ said, and would peel the labels off beer bottles (early 20's).

Tried in my thirties when my mom was in and out of the hospital. One sister, who was a real smoker and I would buy packs and sit on the bench outside the hospital. I would always feel ill.

Around that time she introduced me to cigars. Now that was silly.

Friends say it is one tough habit to kick, but people do it all the time, so you'll find your way.

Sounds like you have quit before?

Yeah I used to roll myself fake cigarettes out of bus tickets and smoke them assiduously. I am an anxious person.

Smoking is too pointless. Unlike drinking, which makes immediate sense.

I suppose that is why Oscar Wilde liked smoking? I mean, I imagine he did.
That's one of the few things that can be said for it.
