Water dream

Posted by sleepygirl2 on July 6, 2011, at 7:39:51

I had a dream about riding down the road. It was flooding, becoming impassable. I lost control of the car once, then found myself skimming along the top of it, sitting on some type of board. Land that wasn't flooded was disappearing as the water kept rising.
Then, I was at the beach, 2 people with me. The waves were very close, huge and dark though other people didn't seem to notice. The the tide went out...very far out, and the 2 I was with were in the distance in the water. I knew that with the tide having changed so radically, that a tidal wave was sure to strike very soon. I ran, or tried to run to my car in the parking lot. I knew I had to drive as far away as possible to avoid the wave. I couldn't run. It was like I was incapable of taking the big, fast steps.

There was another part. I was in some type of group activity with a girl from elementary school. It was easy for her. The woman leading it was some type of motivational speaker. I couldn't do what we were supposed to do. It involved swimming. I was embarrassed and confused and I couldn't understand at all. But I was supposed to be fine.

Water dreams for me often mean I ate watermelon too close to bedtime. :(

But there definitely seems to be a theme of being overwhelmed?

I've had a water dream more than once and I wake up totally freaked out.
The night and the ocean are pitch black. I'm driving a 50's era car straight out into the ocean on a rikity pier. there are only very dim lights overhead spaced very far apart.
there's no turning back but I get to the end of this journey and there's a little bar with no one around. But at that point it looks like enough room to turn around. I wake up.

SG, since I am not really dreaming, thank you. Your dream seems very familiar, very vivid.

Water....

Oceanic....

Something about Freud.
