Last heard you were off to the Dalai Lama. Have we lost you?

Guess I could consider that your great good fortune.

No, of course you haven't lost me. He's been great. It's day 3 today. he has been teaching this text by (I think) Shantideva. I will tell you more when I get back to a computer. It's all about finding freedom in love and service. I mean sort of. I think so. Something like that.

Oh. Multiple days with him.

:-)

You are blessed (or do you prefer lucky?) indeed.

How absolutely wonderful.

10 hours of lectures over 3 days.

I was fascinated by him and by his history.

He combines authority, humility and gentleness in a way that is really interesting.

I found myself feeling so fond of him.

There were 4,000 people in the hall and 30,000 listening and watching online.

I was at the Melbourne one.

He is someone very worthy of fondness.

Thanks for the link.

So you watched online hall or sat in the hall?

Someday I hope to see him.

Have you read the suggested book?

The wonders of technology. Yes. I say that w/o sarcasm. Besides, how else would I ever talk to you?

And Yo Yo Ma as the intro music!

Have you heard Pablo Casals play the cello concertos? If not, please. You might be delighted.

We sat in the hall. I have only read a fraction of the books. There is the root text and the commentary.

Interestingly, I was hearing Stephen Batchelor, more of a Zen person, talking on a religion program today........that 35 years ago it was Zen that was the thing, not Tibetan Buddhism.

Did I tell you about Koya San? We stayed there when we were in Japan. There is a graveyard. It made an impression on me as powerful as Prague, I don't know why. I don't know which school they are, not Zen, I suspect. Kukai's tomb is there, and the faithful are buried close to him among the trees so that when he awakes they can hear him preach. The trees are so big, and every day there was snow on the branches. It must be a thousand years old. Most of the monasteries were destroyed by warrior monks from the opposing factions.

I liked Japanese architecture. There seemed less need to overawe, more interest in harmony. I couldn't help comparing it favourably to Versailles.

The burial grounds and the trees sound like a poem.

Thank you for a vivid image.
