Phillipa,
You wrote,[...Thanks...]
James Taylor grew up in Carolina...the meaning of the song could be known by those that have been in depression.
You see, I have selected the songs here for a great meaning that when revealed could IMHO be of great support to those that are listening to these selections. They are not by chance. When they fit together there is a great meaning that could lead one to leap over a great gulf separating darkness from a marvelous light.
The selections fit together starting with Hank Williams and then some that I have not posted yet such as Woody Guthrie, then Bob Dillon and Elvis Presely and Chuck Berry and the group of Carol King and James Taylor and others.
But James Taylor sang of going to Carolina (in his mind). Why? You see, James was no stranger to depression of the worst kind. Hummmmmm

So that's the meaning of Carolina?
On the album version of 'Fire and Rain' I am always moved by the tone of his voice (so restrained) in the words
'Won't you look down upon me Jesus
You gotta help me make a stand
You just got to see me through another day
My body's aching and my time is at hand....'

YouTube didn't have any of the songs that helped define Bruce Springsteen as he performed them at the Bottom Line in NYC during August, 1975. However, I think this article helps to capture the significance of the event.
What other websites are good for finding videos?

I used to hang out in Greenwich Village Bleeker Street a lot with ex. Used to frequent Crazy Horse. If you know the Village you know what Crazy Horse. Laughed when ex thought they were women. Phillipa
