Humble request to all babblers

Posted by Phil on July 31, 2009, at 10:08:06

I've posted this before. My brother John has terminal lung cancer.

Please take a moment to pray for him. To give him strength and hopefully hang on long enough for new drugs / technologies are developed.

That's all I ask.

Thank you,

John's kid brother Phil

(((( Phil ))))

I hope it isn't you who dislikes hugs.

Of course I'll include him, and you, in my prayers. And I'll include both of you in my Sunday School prayer circle.

It is so hard to think of losing people we care about. Would it help for you to talk about him? If so, I'd love to hear about him, and how he's been a part of your life.

But if that would hurt too much, I understand.

I think I used to not like hugs. I'll take all I can get now.

I had a short post about John up the page a bit.

I started a post off on one subject and just switched to my brother. That's when the flood gates opened and I've cried till there's nothing left.

I'm back in therapy and have to stop like 5 times to let it out. Same with my shrink. I haven't slept since Wed night but I'm fading fast now. Thanks Dinak..very much.

I've talked to him about 10 times this week...2 times this morning. He's tough but I hear his speech slowing and he seems very tired..that's new. I'm concerned but whatever direction it goes, I've left in God.s hands. He will be there with us. I know he's with us now.

I know that he is with both of you.

I'll go back and look for that post. I keep losing my browsing history, so that my reading patterns right now are spotty at best.

I hope that Pristiq startup effects are wearing off, and you'll be able to sleep more regularly soon. Everything seems less hopeless with regular sleep.

Volunteer Prayer Chapel - 24/7 prayers............ » Phil

So sorry this is happening Phil.

I'm onboard & sending you both 'golden light' also.

Phil, there's an organization (volunteer) that has a Prayer Vigil Chapel. People rotate 'shifts' there doing ongoing 24/7 prayers for 30 days when you request a prayer.

Here is the 1-800 number. I hope I'm not breaking babble rules by giving it. But we do post links, so I suspect it's okay.

1-800-669-7729

When I was very worried about my son, I phoned & found it VERY reassuring & comforting speaking with the lady who answered. Also it felt really reassuring to know that people were praying all the time for him for the 30 days. (& of course you can then phone again for another 30 days).

It didn't feel extreme, or 'gung-ho' or anything like that. The lady who I spoke with was very calm & earnest & peaceful.

It's run by donation only & I did give my address & receive a nice letter & the option to donate - but NO high pressure etc.

Just a thought.

luv, Kath (you)

I'll giver er a go. I know mormons do the same but a few days later you'll have two bicicle riding guys knocking on your door.

No offense to mormons but if I want religion, I know where to find it.

OK, personal view of the mormons Jesus, Joe Smith..total crock. Not too sure about Jesus either. Virgin birth my #ss.

Accept my son, go to heaven, don't go to hell. Bullsh*t, and I'm a christian just don't buy the company line anymore.

There are lots of liberal churches in Austin that don't lay the cr%p on you.

Sorry if offending anyone.

> I'll giver er a go. I know mormons do the same but a few days later you'll have two bicicle riding guys knocking on your door.

~ ~ Nope nothing like that in this case. Not a bike in sight! ;-)
Glad you're going to give it a go.

> No offense to mormons but if I want religion, I know where to find it.

~ ~ yeah me too - I don't like having things pushed at me.

> OK, personal view of the mormons Jesus, Joe Smith..total crock.

~ ~ My personal experience also - husband was reading a book about mormons & I said "WHATTTTTT??" Of course the multiple wives thing sparked my ire!!! And God TOLD him to go forth & marry in abundance???!! Okayyyyyy.

> Not too sure about Jesus either. Virgin birth my #ss.

~ ~ I read long ago that the translating could have something to do with 'virgin' since 'young woman' could also be translated as virgin.

I believe in God, but am not into organized religion - heck, one look at my house & you'd know that I'm not into 'organized' in most areas of my life!!

lol

hugs Phil, Kath

PS - I am not meaning to insult of offend anyone, & apologize if I have. Just stating my own thoughts & reactions.

Two things about mormons. If your known among mormons as a mormon and you lose your job, house etc, they got your back.

Utah has the highest number of porn consumers than any other state.

I have a cousin that is mormon but we're not close so I've never asked him where to find the best porn.

I was raised Mormon. My mother is Mormon. My grandma and grandpa were too. My cousins and aunts and uncles as well.

While I am no longer a church member, I have nothing but fond memories of the church, and often wish that I could return. I've never met a warmer, more welcoming community. I miss it.

You can take the girl out of the Mormon church, but you can't take the Mormon out of the girl.

I'm pretty sure that my mother wasn't a huge porn consumer. And given the number of kids my various relatives have, I'm not sure where they would find the time.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
