My parents watch this Chinese medicine show on TV and in one episode, they showed this old guy walking like a dog, on his feet and hands. They said it was really good for his health. So then my Mom started walking on her feet and hands. LOL My Dad tried to but he is too out of shape to walk on this feet and hands. He has crawl on this hands and knees. LOL
My Mom did it a few times, but not every night. My Dad on the other hand, is crawling everynight. LOL It is hilarious. So weird. It seems like they will believe anything on that Chinese medicine show.
My Mom also rubs her belly every night because the show said it was good.
My Mom copied down this herbal tea recipe for lowering blood pressure and I think she intends to make some for my Dad.
I frankly think something like that is dangerous. The placebo effect can only do so much.
The TV show shows people with all these different aliments who get cured with Chinese medicine. I think alternative medicine is good as a supplement to Western medicine, but I am worried my parents will ignore Western medicine altogether in favour of herbal cures which have not been studied.
They really put a lot of faith into Traditional Chinese medicine.

I feel there's a lot to be said for alternative meds like accupuncture and massage. I used to get massages and they really helped. Love Phillipa

I think the danger of traditional preparations are overstressed. Before there was Phizer people were making their own medicine for tens of thousands of years. The stuff might not make you better (or it might) but most (not all) of the time it won't harm you. Countries like China would have died out long ago if that was the case.
