I'm afraid of becoming addicted to drugs

Posted by Deneb on June 25, 2009, at 22:24:33

Help, I think I am getting deeper into substance abuse territory.

I drank another beer today to try it out, but I found myself liking the buzz it gave me. It cost me 200 kcal though so I shouldn't do this daily, it is just too calorific. Anyways, I found myself wishing alcohol were calorie free so that I could drink another beer to get the buzz again. I'm also drinking alone, which concerns me. Drinking is supposed to be a social thing.

Plus, I am trying to get MJ. I don't want to break the law, but I actually asked former co-workers who I think use MJ, about where I could get some MJ. I don't want to become a pothead.

I ordered my legal herbs, but I think that is also a bad idea because I will have to hid vaporizing it as my parents might think I was using MJ.

I think I need to stop researching alcohol, MJ, legal herbs and other substances.

I think I'm going to put the other beers in the basement and have them once week. I will also delete all information I get about where to get MJ. I'm scared.

If you don't start with them, you won't get addicted. You don't need to go down a road to even be tempted unless you wish to. Why do you wish to?

I come from a family of addicts, who die routinely of cirrhosis of the liver, and end up in debt from gambling. Knowing this, I've been careful with drink and gambling.

Have you gone on any job interviews?

I haven't starting searching for more jobs ever since that job I applied to. I need to do it soon. Pdoc wants me to just go through the process of finding a job to get experience in looking for a job.

I won't buy the MJ. I already bought the legal herbs though, but I think they should be OK since they don't contain nicotine or THC. I read people don't get high on them. I think I will also not hide vaporizing them. Hiding things is not a good thing. They are perfectly legal so I shouldn't need to hide them. I'll also explain to my parents that vaporizing prevents the tar and other bad chemicals from being inhaled.

Hi Deneb,

I agree with Manic. I think it would be wonderful for you to get involved in something(s) that would get you in touch with people IRL.

Is there anything that you might join IRL?

Anything you're interested in?

Maybe even a running club, or marathon training club or something. You like running don't you?

Looking forward to hearing what you think about this.

luv, Kath

PS - I've mentioned it before, but don't remember you ever replying to me. Sorry if I'm being too pushy. Just interested in your thoughts on the matter.

xoxo Kath

PS - Deneb - Youth is a time of trying different things, etc.

I agree with the comments cautioning you.

My son has ROYALLY screwed up his life due to alcohol & drugs. He has damaged his brain.

He is VERY fortunate in that he is pulling out of it - pulling forward out of the dense, clinging, tar-thick mud of substance abuse. And he is still not out of it yet, but at least he's heading in the right direction.

There are lots of other things to explore other than intoxicants. I'm glad you're having what seems like a more healthful attitude towards it.

Even smoking herbs........I'm not sure why you want to do it? I guess as long as it doesn't pull you towards smoking other stuff that is NOT a game or something to play with lightly. Ya know - my son ALWAYS said (years ago now) that he would NEVER do chems (chemical drugs) He said he would only EVER smoke weed.

I hope you remain vigilant as to your motives, attitudes, etc. I'm really glad you have a supportive & caring pdoc to help you sort stuff out.

much love, Kath

PS - I admire your honesty & openness.

I like walking. I can't run very much. That is a good idea. Maybe I will look into walking clubs. I'm also volunteering for BluesFest soon. That will get me in touch with people IRL. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks Kath. I know some people get deep into substance abuse and it is really bad. I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen to me. I think I'm in an experimenting phase right now.
