alleluia, I've filed my taxes

Posted by obsidian on April 14, 2009, at 18:09:34

god how I hate doing it...
those freaking forms, and all those form numbers and those little boxes and ..geez

something is very wrong with the money that's being taken out of my check
once I indicate that I live in NYC (technically, but not really) the freaking money I owe to the state goes WAY up...it's scary really

so I have to arrange something about having that taken out over the year

I hate taxes, all in some giant file I don't care about, but have to keep around in case someone wants it? for what?? I don't know.

halleluia, they are done
-sid (bows)

Congrats! I waited until today as well!

You hated doing it last year, if I recall correctly.

Has it really been a year?

lol, you remember that?? yeah, seems to have flown by, don't like it when time passes too fast
I've got to go live in the country or something, but I'd probably feel lonely, it's good to have neighbors

ah sig, a poem has occurred to me....
Robert Frost
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it,
And spills the upper boulders in the sun,
And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.
The work of hunters is another thing:
I have come after them and made repair
Where they have left not one stone on a stone,
But they would have the rabbit out of hiding,
To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean,
No one has seen them made or heard them made,
But at spring mending-time we find them there.
I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;
And on a day we meet to walk the line
And set the wall between us once again.
We keep the wall between us as we go.
To each the boulders that have fallen to each.
And some are loaves and some so nearly balls
We have to use a spell to make them balance:
'Stay where you are until our backs are turned!'
We wear our fingers rough with handling them.
Oh, just another kind of out-door game,
One on a side. It comes to little more:
There where it is we do not need the wall:
He is all pine and I am apple orchard.
My apple trees will never get across
And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him.
He only says, 'Good fences make good neighbors'.
Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder
If I could put a notion in his head:
'Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it
Where there are cows?
But here there are no cows.
Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offence.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down.' I could say 'Elves' to him,
But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather
He said it for himself. I see him there
Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
He moves in darkness as it seems to me~
Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
He will not go behind his father's saying,
And he likes having thought of it so well
He says again, "Good fences make good neighbors."

I hate doing my taxes too. I just didn't do them at all for 2006 and 2007. Finally in 2008, I went to H&R block and got them done. That was the best thing I ever did. I got a bunch of money back with no headache.

I liked them so much I went back to H&R Block this year. I got my taxes done and received my tax return right then and there. It was nice, worth the money to me.

Thanks for the reminder Obsidian. I forgot to do my state and local taxes!!! Of course I do the federal taxes as soon as I get W-2s because I make sure I get a refund.

Well this sux because I've done everyone else's taxes for them over a month ago, but forgot my own :( I wonder if there's penalties for filing late w/state? Maybe its not a big deal. Hey, one of my neighbors is a mail carrier, maybe I could get her to postmark the envelope for the 15th? I just told her she could pick up all my newspapers I never read when she brings the mail, so maybe she'd want to return the favor. lol

Damn. time goes so fast. It seems like Christmas is almost here again. First tax deadlines, then christmas around the corner. lol

I read something about Robert Frost's political opinions recently

When I read that out aloud that I appreciated the lovely sound and metre of it.

But the meaning of it?

I'd have to do it again.

It's famous, isn't it?

Thanks Sid

...my favorite part

this made me think of this artist, andy goldsworthy, and this place I've been, a sculpture park
