It is Gardening Time in Texas

Posted by fayeroe on March 7, 2009, at 21:37:17

We worked outside today for about 3 hours. Anyone else planting anything? Flowers or veggies? I'm planting potatoes, corn, tomatoes and peppers. Morning glories, a rose for Fayedy, bamboo, cosmos and poppies. I went to the city public works yesterday and they loaded a shovelful of organic compost into the back of my truck. (front end loader shovel). It is black gold.

I felt better being outside today. We hit it again tomorrow.

I'm from the NE of the states...but still..hoemegrown tomatoes are THE best.

Planted poppies too; after all the bulbs;..don't know if they will come up beaause of the conditioning...Anyway, I hope to at least have lettuce-various varieties--hot peppers-and tomatoes..I love morning glories too! the blue ones..they are gorgeous!! too bad you have to plant those each and every year..have had morning glories the past 2 years.

Planting? 'maters and peppers? That's still 11-12 weeks away for frost-tender plants up here. It'll be four weeks yet before the grass greens up. Maple syrup season is just underway.

I'm planting morning glories and poppies too! I do the cobalt blue morning glories every year--I love waking up in the morning and going to the kitchen window or going outside and seeing their beauty. Seriously, its the first thing I do when I get out of bed-look at my morning glories..lol. THe cobalt blue ones are striking.. What MG colors do you have?

I'm going to try to do more vegetables this year like you. I always do tomatoes but don't take the time I should to create a bigger garden. I want to plant different varietes of lettuces this year, but the bunnies in my yard eat a lot of my stuff. I have a small blueberry bush to plant right now. It was only $7, so I figured the cost of 2 half pints of blueberries.

All I'm planting is planting my boot-clad feet on the still partly frozen, winter-dirty, not-yet-Spring-cleansed ground!!!

Lucky you.. hugs, Kath

I've made a project out of Fayedy's grave. Gladiolas, morning glories, day lilies and cosmos.
It helps! She loved the garden.

Sounds wonderful.

I love gardening & find it VERYYYYYYYYYYY therapeutic!!!

Am quite looking forward to being able to. Although it doesn't feel like it outside, it can't be all that terribly long now.

I'm glad you're able to garden now & not have to wait.

(((((((((((you))))))))))))

love, Kath
