You mean you worked it out in 5 minutes?

That is almost as worrying as caraher saying that 4 seconds is a long time to make a decision (if one is calm).

At least certainly classes of trivial decisions... but one thing I've noticed is a lot of people are taking their performance as though it reflected their intelligence or worth. Phillipa wrote "shameful" of her performance. It's not at all!

Part of the challenge is also the kind of "testing" environment presented. Seeing the time bar slip away induces some anxiety, particularly if you're already feeling nervous about doing well. I guess that's part of my "if you're calm" observation - the first few tries I recall a few trials where that bar slipping away distracted me from processing what was on-screen.

I wonder what someone from a slow-paced, non-technological society would think of the game. Would they laugh at it? Would they wonder what the hurry is to get the answer?

I think this might also go back to that following directions thing. Reading directions and thinking one thing when they really mean doing another.

Of course!

Quite probably; we're trained at school.
For every gain there's a loss.
I don't know if it could be true, but I read that in the past people could navigate by the stars that they could see in the day time.
If that isn't true, it certainly is that indigenous cultures knew how to read plants

Directions?

I need everything spelled out really really clearly.

I couldn't follow those directions at all.

I have all this electronic equipment sitting around the house because I anticipate (anticipatory anhedonia!) incomprehension at the directions and it is so much easier to forget about it.

Now that I am clear about which word I am expected to ignore the meaning but note the colour of, my results have improved and I am more intelligent as a result.

I had no idea y'all would get worked up about this--but it was fun watching. I'm for anything that distracts people from the jungle.

Actually, what I neglected to say is I have taken this test (or one similar) before, which was why I only skimmed the instructions. And also why I was so sure I was right and the test was wrong. But I was doing the opposite of what I was supposed to. I came very close to posting that my test wasn't working right.

Oh, and BTW Sigmund, there's been things you've posted about that I didn't even know the meaning of! So it just goes to show we all excel at different things!
