Deneb, I'm sorry you've been feeling crappy. What kind of help were you trying to find??

What do you mean you got turned down seeking help? Public mental health or what?

Oh, it wasn't that important.

SURE it's important! You aren't wasting my time by telling me what the problem is. Hopefully someone here can help. I was just curious about what you meant by being "turned down" since I face the problem of trying to get medical care that I need, and want to know what sort of hurdles that I will have to face. That's all.

Did you go to the hospital?

Or call your pdoc's practice?

Either way, shame on them.

I chat with some people on PC and they convinced me to go to the counseling centre. They don't take walk ons.

I have since called the distress centre. It helped a bit, but I felt like she didn't take me seriously.

Please, whatever you do, don't send the cops after me. My sister and her boyfriend are here.

I'm going to be OK.

The lady at the distress centre seems to think my med change might have affected me.

I'm not sure what to think.

Well, I don't know what sort of folk are at your call-in center. I hope that they are well-versed in medical issues. It is true, however, that medical changes or reduction in amounts taken will certainly cause one to feel a tad "squirrelly". People don't always like to acknowledge it, but ANY psychotrophic drug will have some degree of withdrawal symptoms. I hope that you are doing better today though! :)

I think I had a mental breakdown. :/ (whatever the heck that means)

I feel OK again, normal.

Anyway, sorry if I scared anyone.

Hi Deneb,
I'm glad you're feeling better today. Now that you're feeling better, don't forget to make some phone calls/appt.s to get help sooner than your scheduled appointments. Just feeling better doesn't mean that you don't need some extra help during this tough time. I'm worried about you :(

love,
ll

Deneb, what med change was that?

Is your pdoc trying to cut back your risperdal again?

Oh, yeah, pdoc really wants me off meds I think.

She thinks I've learned the coping strategies to deal with stuff. I thought I was doing pretty well too. I dunno what happened. Midterm triggered it I think.

She reduced the Risperdal. I've been at the reduced dose for maybe 3 weeks?? I dunno. I don't remember. I don't think she likes it very much. She knows more about its dangers than I do.

Perhaps she does know the dangers. But does she really understand the benefits?

I think we at Babble see a very big difference when you are on and off Risperdal. Do you think she might listen to your friends here? I'm sure we'd be happy to write posts to her.

It might not change her mind, but maybe she'd have a clearer idea of what happens? Maybe she could at least plan to add something to compensate for the loss?

Pdoc is usually late, but today she was extremely late, like 40 mins late. I also got there 15 mins early so I waited forever.

I started getting really really anxious and dry heaving.

The good thing was she saw me for 45 mins. She really took the time to explain things and ask questions.

I feel a bit better now. I'm going to try to study this Weds. I am aiming just to pass right now. I have to get out of this all or nothing thinking. She said this was a learning opportunity.

Pdoc said med decrease was premature in retrospect. I'm back on 0.75mg now.

Oh and she said I don't have Asperger's. She said I have some traits, but not full blown Asperger's.

Thank you for the trigger warning. :)

Maybe next time she wants to wean you down, if she does again, you could talk to her about taking your current dose as needed? I find Risperdal as needed to be enormously helpful for me. I note when I feel myself starting to fall apart, then take a Risperdal and know that I'll feel better (if not all better) if I can just hold on until it starts working. Then when my stress goes down, I quit taking it.

Using risperdal as needed makes a lot of sense to me too. I have used abilify and zyprexa (other next-generation antipsychotics) for this purpose.

Deneb, I'm glad that your pdoc is on the same page with you, and that you are working with her to plan the next couple of weeks.

Take good care, both Dinah and Deneb,

hugs,
-Ll
