I got my midterm back today. It was really bad. It wasn't that the test was especially hard, it was just me.
I feel like giving up.
I skipped tutoring today and I'm sleeping all day instead.

I'm a firm believer in letting yourself feel bad for a day or so. Before dragging yourself into problem solving mode.
You say the test wasn't harder, that it was you. What do you mean by that? Did you not study as much? Did you get as much tutoring, or did you cut back?
I tell my son that not getting the grade you want is an opportunity to problem solve so that next time will go better. If you were talking to another student who had your situation, how would you analyze it? Was your energy level lower? Did you change your study habits? Your meds?
Were your incorrect answers the result of not understanding the material or careless errors? Or reading the questions too quickly? This is a great opportunity for you to reflect on what does and doesn't work for you. You had two tests that you say were about equally difficult, yet your results were different. A perfect test environment. So maybe look back and determine the independent variables that led to the different test results?

I know I'm sounding insensitive. And I'm not feeling that way. I just had a huge failure at work, and I feel like garbage. I don't like failing one bit, and I feel awful about myself.
But I'm also mulling over the causes and the possible solutions.
It's possible to do both.

I'm in a bad way right now. I want to give up on life.
I'm void of emotions. I'm numb.
I'm not sure what changed. I guess I didn't study as much. I got overconfident. Don't remember when, but med was reduced. I don't think that's it though.

I'm sorry you feel so bad. Try to keep in mind that this is just one test in one class. Don't let it get blown out of proportion in your head. You've worked too hard to let one minor setback overshadow all the hard work you've done.

I think I'm going to be OK. I don't feel well, but as bad as I feel I don't think I'm depressed or anything.
I think I'm doing the all or nothing thinking right now. It's not the end of the world to fail a midterm.
I believe I have the capacity to pass this course. I just need to work.
I can't give up. I've wanted to skip class, but I haven't yet, so that is a good sign. My final exam is Dec. 20th. I still have time to study.

I'm sorry, Deneb. I shouldn't have pushed you to logic just yet. I wish I could just sit with you with those feelings, so that you aren't alone with them.
