Oh MY! That makes two of us! I saw them once in Toronto, back in 1989/1990 or so. My friend at the time who loved them, he talked me into it! He ended up becoming a university professor..lol. I think a lot of people don't realize GWAR was just a bunch a college students with too much time on their hands. You should see them in actual interviews without the costumes...quite funny.
The other thing, is all of their stuff of COURSE is 100 percent plastic costumes and completely fake, and I thought that was quite obvious. It's a "rig", but it was always funny to hear a new GWAR album.

Jay :-)

Yes, they are intentionally over the top insulting, its all meant to be humorous. How can you not laugh at getting sprayed in a crowd by a giant penis? I saw them in the mid 90's sometime, and like you, I never would have gone except that my friend wanted to. She's still doing crazy stuff.

I remember my hair had pink streaks in it for several weeks, and me and all my friends laughed about how our contacts were purple. We all wore white shirts so we could see all the different colors that got sprayed on our shirts. A little silly I guess, but it was fun.

Hey manic....sorry...been stuck in a "mania" myself. My testosterone dose was too high, and I just felt gawd-awful. Crashed yesterday. Today Day 1 back to high-dose meds.

I think we are around the same age, no? Yes, I remember Kraftwork...excellent stuff esp. for their time. And Jean Jarre(sp?)..and I love Depeche Mode..old and new. There is an excellent newer electronic artist called 'Delerium'(sp?)..look for them on You tube. I feel embarrassed, but Disco was really my first exposure to music. But it was rock in the late 70's/early 80's (Rush, Styx, Genesis) that got me going. I am even trying my hand at writing my own music now....yikes!

Ya, I forgot to mention I knew of the movie, and Jane Fonda in it as a sci-fi fem Indiana Jones (not quite..lol). That Johnny Cash cd with 'Hurt', that song is also done amazing by Cash..he owns that song now...nobody can top what he did. I think Trent from Nine Inch Nails would agree. That whole scene was just so different then what we have now. In the 80's, I was into U2 (from the start), Ultravox, Depeche..., but liked some 70's rock too like I mentioned. I've always like punk, but the Sex Pistols where just a commercial sell-out, period. The Slits, bands like that where good. Old Zepplin and Sabbath I listened to once in a rare moon, and I always listen to the Who. I have recently got into...can you believe after all these years...John Lennon! 'Working Class Hero' is folk-punk before it's time. I didn't like 80's "Big Hair psuedo Metal". That was cheese to me.

Jay :)
