stressed

Posted by Angela2 on November 12, 2008, at 15:01:15

I don't have a job. I don't have friends. I want to go back to school. I'm so stressed out. I volunteered today and 2 people started picking on me for being quiet and not smiling. I started crying and left. I need a support network. I want to follow my dreams and go back to school, but I also need a job. I feel like all these thoughts are just too overwhelming to deal with.

Where I volunteer no one would say that.
This whole area is full of people in recovery, and those who volunteer are often fragile.
And just about always people are really nice to each other or it wouldn't work.

I volunteer at a community radio station.
It has an alternative feel.

About the whole thing. I still am stressed about my future, but I feel better about what happened at volunteering. One lady was just a stupid jerk and the other person meant well. I feel better.

I'm sorry someone had to go and pick on you right when you needed it the least! It seems like we are alike in a lot of ways. Sometimes I feel like I have a neon sign on my forehead that says, "Pick on me! Please!" I just seem to draw those people out.

Unfortunately there seems to almost always be one of these people in a crowd. But you've got to think, man, that must really be an unhappy person. I mean, can you imagine saying something that rude to somebody? I couldn't. The thought of me inadvertently saying something hurtful to someone else would make me feel REALLY bad, much less saying it on purpose! But that's the thing, these people don't think like you and me. They go looking for someone to put down who doesn't look like they'll put up much of a fight, because this is the ONLY WAY to make their miserable selves feel better!! They should be pitied. I know that can be hard to do sometimes, but when you think of it that way, sometimes it can take away the power they have to make you feel bad.

So try to hang in there. You know from previous talks that I'm feeling a lot of the same things you are. So hey, you're in good company! LOL!

THANKS TC!!!!!
You are right. I'd feel awful about saying something mean or rude to someone else. The place I volunteer at is generally a VERY kind place. But some of the volunteers, unfortunately, are not. Many are there because it is a mandatory thing. Like they either have to do community service, or go to jail. I think that some people are so unhappy because of their upbringing, their life circumstances, etc. It was very strange. Because the jerk lady was getting ready to leave and I said "Have a good night." And then she like attacked me, lol. Anywho, thanks for the kind words.

Angela Chase :)

Kath!!! Thanks for the support :)

I am not doing the craft show. It's over actually. Maybe I'll do one another time.

On another crafty note though, I learned how to knit a hat recently, and I just finished it tonight. woot!

It's my version of a smiley face with squinty eyes. The X is the eyes and the D is the smile
