Seriously three years and without taking down the two inch wide faux white wooden blinds in each room of my house is there a way to clean them? I tried dusting and ran finger over one and it has dirt on it. Thanks I have no idea and it's overwhelming to me. Phillipa

Hi Phillipa,
Take a cloth - terrycloth - an old 'face cloth' would be good as it has a bit of roughness to it.
I would just use warm water, maybe with a touch of vinegar to it, but you probably don't need it.
Have a pail with the water in it so you can rinse your cloth.
Dip the cloth into water, then wring it out so it's not dripping at all. Then just start at one end of the blind - hold the blind with one hand & wipe it with the other. How frequently to rinse out your cloth in the pail depends on how much dust has accumulated. If you see the cloth starting to look a bit dirty, rinse it & wring it again. You might have to change the water part way through.
That's how I'd do it. It'll take a while, but it should work.

Thanks Kath bouth this duster thing boy was it filthy more to do. They are so large it would be almost impossible to use water. Love Phillipa

Ah heck. I've been angling for plantation shutters, but if they're that hard to clean, they might not be a good idea.

The double thickness pleated shades are the best. Used to have franchise with a former and we sold all window treatments. All I know is they keep out the cold don't get dirty honecomb? May be the name. These are horrible. Love Phillipa

We have those in most of our windows. But our bedroom was always sort of beach-themed. The slow moving ceiling fan and slatted blinds were necessary elements for the proper lighting and atmosphere. :)

I usually just turn the blinds totally closed one way, use a swiffer duster all over the surface showing, then turn them totally closed the other way and do the same. It keeps the dust down, but eventually I do need to dust each slat.
