Bummer Day

Posted by Angela2 on November 3, 2008, at 13:07:00

Hi. Today is kind of a bummer day. I was supposed to meet with my case worker today but I kinda have a minor stomach virus and so our appointment was cancelled. I really wanted to see her to talk about jobs.

I am trying to get off ativan. I take 0.5mg a day. I don't feel physically dependent on it, but I am pretty sure I'm psychologically dependent. Going places is so hard today. I think, "what if I pass out if I go shopping? Or when getting an application? Because of tapering off ativan.."

I really want a job. But I also want to get off of ativan. And I don't know if I can do both at the same time.

I'm feeling better. I handed an application in to a store and I'm going to apply at another place tomorrow. I also took my normal dose of ativan. I want to find a way to get off it. Right now I just don't know how. My pdoc is on vacation.

good for you for handing one in! personlly i think its alot to expect to come off ativan while you look for and start a new job. i understand wanting to get off it, but thats alot to ask of yourself when you are starting something new.

Hey, that doesn't sound like a bummer day! You got something accomplished, and believe me, I know! Sometimes even getting out of bed can be an accomplishment for me, so you did good. I think its great that you want to get off a potentially addictive med, but your doc gave it to you because he/she thought you needed it, so don't be so hard on yourself. I would suggest only going off of it with your doctors help. Maybe there's something else you can take that isn't as addictive, but will give a similar result. Might not be as good, but may help with the tapering off, you know? Anyway, keep up the good work!

Angela such a tiny dose of ativan I just don't feel this is the time to try to quit. Give it some time. Seriously very low dose. Phillipa

Thanks you guys. Yeah for now I'm going to just stay on it. I've talked to my pdoc about it before. She knows I want to get off it. When she gets back I'm going to talk about it again. Thank you guys for you support and advice.
