I'm not sure exactly where she lives now, but many of the rivers and streams in southern/western Indiana are at or near record levels. Lots of people in Terre Haute have been flooded out of their homes, and a section of Interstate 70 (a 4-lane divided highway) washed out on the weekend.

I had a minor adventure myself Friday... my car radio/CD player was stolen last week, and when I left for my 30-mile drive home I hadn't checked the weather. It looked fine... when I was halfway home I noticed rather menacing clouds to the west, and estimated their distance and figured if the storm moves at a brisk 40 MPH I should still get home first. 5 minutes later I figured out they were moving at something closer to double that. By the time I reached the southern edge of town the front had arrived, and I had trouble keeping my car on the road, so I parked and dashed into the nearest building (an office supply store). When I came in the wind blew down a few displays... There was no serious damage; several trees blew down including an apple tree in our backyard, and I heard that a door shattered at a fast food place.

Oh, and now we're having a hailstorm (small pellets so far). Looking at the radar Terre Haute is going to get another soak lasting several hours...

I did a google search

And at least some parts of her town were evacuated. I just couldn't tell how much.

I hope we hear from her soon.

((((kk))))

So, I decided to call her

She's fine and they're safe at home. She said the Red Cross set up a center in the school near her house and she hopes that means they're on relatively high ground.

Seldom

it's good to know people care

thanks all for being concerned. i'm sorry i'm so terribly irresponsible, and didn't post a follow-up to let everyone know i'm ok.

quite a few neighborhoods are flooded here, but everythign's back to normal pretty much.

again, sorry i haven't been here in a while. lots of stress at home, combined with depression (blechy!) are to blame (can i blame it on that?). oh yeah, and my computer is REALLLLLLY slow too. yeah, i think that's a good enough reason (smiling faintly)

one a good note, whiel i spent the weekend at my sister's (yeah, it's been 'one of those' kind of weeks), duckie finally got a haircut!!!! and it's too cute. of course, mister kk's upset (expectedly), since i did it without his knowledge or input. but, it really is adorable!!!

thanks again for your concern and we're all fine here. and mister kk will get over duckie's haircut. or i'll wake up to a duckie with a mohawk :)
