I'm using windows, atm.
I clicked on an icon up the top (I just did it again!) called 'full screen F11' (from 'view' as I recall) and got the bigger screen.
But my ability to control things has been affected because the control panel thing at the top has vanished.
How do I get it back?
I found that grey F11 button at the top of the keyboard and nothing happens when I press it.
I'm reduced to finding highly circuitous ways of getting around.

Well, I'm a Mac person, not a PC person, but I will give it a shot. When you go to view, what are your options? Can you reduce it back to the way it was, or is that the problem? Have you tried to restart?

Full screen F11It's the same when I restart the computer.
I have the address bar up there *now* because I found I could get in by typing 'dr-bob/babble' in the Nine MSN search box that sends me to old Psychobabble records, from where I found my way here.

Of course right now I can't click on 'view' because 'view' has vanished, along with the address bar.
There's a line of icons up the top, none of which is 'view'.

Why do you click on full screen, what are you not seeing that you need? Also, what are the names of the icons at the top?

No reason, although perhaps I thought I'd get more space.

Hmmm, see, if this was a Mac I would probably be able to figure it out. :-(
If your daughter may be able to solve the problem, that may be the easiest solution. Its always easier to to figure it out in person. If not, let me know, I can research the answer. I like to solve computer problems. I'm weird that way.

T mine does wierd things like that too like how to make the print a different one for e-mails and why if someone writes to you to small to see and hit reply does the print you write remain as small as theirs if your's is larger? I have a compaq. Use windows. Love Phillipa ps also have had reply, create e-mail and that whole line disappear?? I know nothing about computers. Self taught.

was to go to my computer> tools > status bar and the something came up about favourites and then to gmail and that restored the tool bar (or so I'm told) and I have also been told not to do it again.

If in doubt - press ESCAPE. If it doesn't work - press CTRL + ALT + DEL. If it still doesn't work - turn it off and on again.

Well, yes.I had this idea that life HAD to be more than this, and that moreover I had to have a condition and that psychiatrists had the cure, because I WANTED to believe.
There's a lot to be said for giving up hopes likle that.
Why was it so difficult for me?
Like every once in a while someone writes in here wondering if it would be better to accept that this is a good as it gets and that it would be easier not to hope.
Sometimes hope can rob one of peace.
Because that kind of hope blinds one to the magic of life.

To put it differently, I do not think that drug treatment is the right treatment for fear resulting from difficult circumstances.
The right treatment for fear is encouragement, achievement and mastery. Then again, I wasn't so frightened I couldn't function at all.
Maybe my fear was telling me something important and I couldn't work out what it was?

Well, Sigi, I don't think pdocs have a treatment for me either - which is partly why I don't go anymore. No medication is going to get rid of my problems.

To the extent my problems (oh, me and my problems) have been resolved (resolved?) it has been to do with finding the kinds of relations with others that I needed, which really means having the kinds of friends I needed.
When I was in my 20s I went around in this alienated daze.
I suppose we should try to look on the bright side. Without all this waste we wouldn't have religion or art.
That's probably nonsense too.

is death, not just in the sense that death solves all problems, but also because conciousness seems (to me at leat) more magical when it is realised that it is for such a very short time, as a proportion of life lived.
The colours you see, for example, are not objectively there. The wavelengths are, but the subjective experience of colour (or anything else) is you.
For me, anyway, there is this tension between the heaven and hell of consciousness, for which I imagine for myself some kinda religious/revelatory type solution, or alternatively trust to the passage of time.
Where is everyone? I need to talk.
