Serena is from a little town in Ontario, where I live. She always was a very talented young lady. I'm glad she's catching on.

I knew she was Canadian, but didn't know she was from Ontario. Cool! All the more reason to like her!! I like her cover of Good Morning Starshine.

Millbrook, just southwest of Peterborough.

Yeah, a song about a story with which I love and hate to identify, and her voice is beautiful. Not sure how all these women are 'rolling their voices'(?); think Alanis began it some yrs ago.

Furthermore.....

I think there must be something in the water, hereabouts. Just a few miles away, from another little town, comes Jimmy Bowskill. Born on BB King's birthday, in 1990, kid tapped into something. He was onstage at Jeff Healey's Roadhouse, at 11.

at twelve, doing live tv, before his voice had changed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRSs1i8nZhU

at 13, doing "Going Down", at Jeff Healey's Roadhouse in Toronto
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpzKmHnlpKk

at fourteen years, doing an old blues standard, "Three O'clock in the Morning"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiVr4-kYm6U

at fifteen, doing his original "The Truth", opening for Johnny Winters
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8l7iub-Q7w

He's 17 now, and has his third album out. You should hear him rock "Diamond Ring". There are a few Youtube clips of stuff on his latest album, done live (when he was still 16) but not this particular track. Here's a different cut called "Rattlesnake Shake" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQb3pD-Jr6Y

Doesn't it just send chills down your spine when the spirit of an entire generation is passed on fom one to the next, as is has with some few lucky people. These are our new treasures - and our keepers of the old treasures. We should thank our lucky stars that there are such resources who can absorb the histories of the greats who preceded them.

Great stuff!

I think the amazing thing is he is entirely self taught. There's a youtube clip of him, at 12, playing slide guitar on a dobro (metal guitar), an old Robert Johnson tune. Spooky, almost, to hear an old man's voice in such a young man. Sound quality wasn't that good, so I didn't include it. But here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5e8Tgt446I

Ya, something in the water. Local act Three Days Grace had more radio air time in North America than any other rock band in 2007.

And, Neil Yound is from just up the road I live on.

I should sell the water.
