I started a new thread to avoid taking clearskies' thread off-topic.

Glad to hear you're doing well. Maybe you could pass on your wt. loss secrets. ;)

I haven't finished the dissertation yet, though I should have. It will happen in about 2-3 months depending on rewrites. And notice I said "will happen" vs "probably will happen." That's a positive change.

Cool GG, I'm happy that you've asserted your power over the diss process. That's an important turning point. The time when the diss is not something inflicted on you, but rather something that can and will take charge on.

I could give you tips on weight loss, let me know and I'll post on the Health board.

Congrats, gg. Definitely will happen. And I'm so glad you've decided to make it happen and let it happen.

That's just the best news!

Honore

Thanks, llurps. It helps to know that others have struggled and still made it through. Focus on weight loss is going to have to wait for awhile. I'm trying to make good choices in the moment, but any planning for stuff beyond the D-word and family stuff going on is just beyond me at the moment. But I may take you up on your generous offer later. :)

Hope you're doing well. sorry for very late reply.

no problem for late reply. I haven't been posting so much, so it's nice to have something in my inbox :)

I think it's really important to reward yourself when you get through a week's worth on d-word goals.

Set reasonable daily and weekly goals, and break things into chunks and you'll be surprised at how much work you can do in a short time.

Of course all of this cog-behav stuff is well known to you, but lo and behold! it works (when we use it well!)

My favorite rewards when writing diss were shoes (not expensive ones) cosmetics esp lip gloss and nail polish and STATIONARY!!! Jammerlich and Deneb can attest to my fondness and pickiness about quality spiral notebooks and german pens...

(((((german pens)))))

take care, and survive well,
-Ll
