Flock of parrots

Posted by Dinah on August 31, 2007, at 17:15:33

My family was captivated by a flock of parrots right by our house today. I did an internet search and found out there's a thriving community!

What a nice surprise that was.

And boy, are they loud for such little things.

That would be cool. It would be nice to have them everywhere.

We get them down where I am - you can always hear them coming! And you never see one all by themselves, there's always at least two or three hanging out together. Our green parrots roost in rotted out palm trees. I love to see the green streaks across the sky.
It makes me want to liberate all the little solitary budgies from their cages (though their owners might not be impressed).

yes they are beautiful, but my god are they noisy. My sister nicknamed them crazy birds. LOL because of their erractic behaviour and the noise they make at dusk and dawn, it can drive you totally nuts if you're trying to sleep. I'm glad I don't have a large flock roosting near me. I just get cockatoo's which are actually louder but at least thier flocks are smaller, where I live anyway. When most tourist's arrive in Australia and hear a cockatoo screech for the first time they think a pteroydactl is coming to take them away. It's quite funny to watch their reaction to that and kookaburra's as well.

there is heaps of other Australian wildlife on this site too. And beware the magpie, they hurt. You might laugh when you see it happen to someone but once it's happened to you it not funny at all. Scroll to swooping for the lowdown on that scenario. It bloody hurts

This seems so long ago. It seems so long ago that we felt happy, and yet it was less than a week ago. I'll go look at those links and see if I can recapture it.
