Dr. John Grohol picks to run over the poor.

Posted by Jay_Bravest_Face on July 4, 2007, at 0:29:52

Well, I've lost ALL respect for Dr. John Grohol, period.
He posted an 'editorial' slamming Mike Moore's "Sicko", claiming that "Socialized Healthcare" in countries like France, Canada, and Britain don't/wouldn't work in the U.S., because "...I don’t think it (our private healthcare) could be so significantly (in America) changed (mainly because that’s not the history of this country and I don’t believe most Americans want more government intervention in their lives)<how blatantly a conservative line is that!>. So, being in the privileged position he is in, he hammers down on all of the poor, uninsured (many who happen to belong to his website.) and THINKS he speaks for every American. Never minding the fact that he even mentions in his article, that the French "Public Healthcare" (it is NOT "Socialized Healthcare"! Every single citizen pays for the healthcare via taxes. And...taxes are comparable across countries..). has been rated by the World Health Organization as THE BEST healthcare system in the world.

Grohol complains about paying "too much taxes", when he brings in pork barrels and a good six figure income.(Never mind all the 'perks' from drug companies, insurance companies, etc.)
I tried to post comments, using every cited fact I could find, to refute him, but for some reason, the "software" for the 'comments' rejects my comments! You can read his story here: http://psychcentral.com/blog/archives/2007/07/01/the-rest-of-moores-sicko-story/

I *HOPE* he publishes my comments, which are lined with facts and sources. He only cites about 2 sources in his 'editorial'.

This is NOT just politics, but about humanity. I think it belongs here in Social. It is also about Psychiatry, and access to it.

Sorry to interrupt, but I'd like to redirect follow-ups regarding redirections to Psycho-Babble Administration. Here's a link:

I like to talk about movies on social. Apparently others do too...

And editorials by self-proclaimed authorities... those are social occasions too. Kind of like pin the tail on the donkey, a favorite party game of mine, particularly since I'm dizzy and always manage to miss the *ss.

on to the real issue- I would not be social at all if I had to pay 1,800 dollars a month (sticker price) for my little pills. Am I being social yet?

I guess socialism [doesnotequal] socializing. pity. funny humans!

I hope I don't get redirected to administration. I lost my road map of how to get there, and I don't feel like buying another. Politics is sticky too.

The other movie I saw recently was transformers. I give it 3 thumbs up. A trimanual salutation. It had humor, alien robots, men in black, tender romance, and a camaro (my first car, btw)

Ahh, the days of trolling around the backwoods of Southern Appalachia, blasting Mozart's 39th Sym. Or Enya with the subwoofers turned on high and the t-top engaged.

folly
